Chuck in the garden just below the nest
Exciting day for Chuck and Cherrie... we were woken up by the distinctive sounds of our two rosellas being unusually noisy in the large grevilleae tree in the front of the house. Apparently they were sorting out a couple of Indian Myna birds which had tried to share their favoured location.
An hour later Chuck was eating seeds below the nest.. (image right)
After we thought the pair had gone foraging I snuck up to the roof to place black canvas bags in the ceiling cavity preventing the rosellas from setting up their nest on the other side of their entry hole (ie away from the camera).
No sooner was I half way up the ladder than we heard the excited chatter of Chuck and Cherrie in the grevilleae tree watching my every move. Within minutes I had moved a tile and put the bags in place.
Clearly the time for nesting is nearing - it was on the 28th June last year that Cherrie took residence in the ceiling.
